Is CodeStudio really free?
Yes. The IDE is free to use. The site may show Google ads to help cover running costs.
Do I need an account?
No. Guest mode gives you the full IDE. Signing in with Google is optional and adds cross-device sync, the Hub and your profile.
Where is my code stored?
In your browser's local storage by default. If you sign in, projects also sync to your account, and you can export a ZIP at any time.
Does it work offline?
Editing, previewing and local saving work without internet. Sign-in, public rooms and the Hub need a connection.
How does collaboration work?
The host creates a room and shares its ID. Joiners are approved by the host and get a role. Edits sync live with Yjs, and voice and video run peer to peer.
